GeBüV and audit readiness in Odoo
Anyone required to keep books in Switzerland must keep and store those books and documents so that they remain traceable and unchanged until the retention period expires. Odoo can do that. It depends on how you set it up.

Unalterability
What is posted stays posted. Corrections run through reversal entries and remain visible later. No quiet changes to old documents.
Traceability
Every entry has a document, every document has a transaction. Who did what and when is in the log.
Retention
Documents sit digitally on the business transaction instead of in a folder. Access remains possible throughout the retention period, for the auditor too.
Access for third parties
Your fiduciary and your auditor get their own account with their own permissions, instead of a pile of exported files.

What we actually configure
Lock dates and periods
Closed periods are locked so that nobody accidentally posts into a year that is already closed. Who may release the lock is limited to a few people.
Sequences for invoices and entries run without gaps. Missing numbers stand out immediately.
Filed on the transaction
Vendor bills, delivery notes and contracts hang on the record itself and not on a separate drive. The link does not get lost when someone leaves.
Customer invoices are created as PDFs in the system and stay there unchanged.
Said plainly: No software is GeBüV compliant in itself, Odoo included. Compliance comes from the interplay of setup, the processes people actually follow, and documentation. The final assessment is your auditor's or your fiduciary's. We do not provide legal, tax or audit advice.

Is it enough to simply upload the documents into Odoo?
That is half the way. It also takes an orderly filing structure, corrections that stay traceable, and access secured across the whole retention period. That is exactly what we talk about during setup.
What happens to our old data?
It stays where it is. Odoo can be introduced step by step and may run alongside your existing programs for a while. What gets migrated is your decision.
Do I have to take Odoo Enterprise for this?
Which edition you need depends on the apps you want to use. We clarify that in the first conversation, before you license anything. We earn nothing on your licence.
