How long does a switch to Odoo take?
For a business with sales, purchasing, inventory and accounting without special processes, we count the time from check to go-live in weeks, not months. The cut-over date decides: if you want to go live at the turn of the year, you should start the check in October. Manufacturing, multiple companies or interfaces extend this. By how much is stated in the report.
Does my tax advisor have to change anything?
No. Entries and documents go from Odoo to the tax firm via DATEV export, just as they did from your old system. Before the first export, we agree with the tax firm which fields it needs.
What happens to the old financial years?
They remain readable in the old system or in an archive. The retention obligation continues to apply. In Odoo you start with opening balances and open items. Historical reports can also be migrated on request.
Can we keep working during the switch?
Yes. Until the cut-over date, the old system remains leading; after that, it is set to read-only. There is no day without a system.
We work with Excel and an invoicing program. Is that even a switch?
Yes, the most common one. Customers, products and stock come from your spreadsheets, the invoices from the program. The check is usually short here; Rocket Start is often enough afterwards.
Odoo Community or Enterprise?
Community is free and sufficient for sales, purchasing, inventory and CRM. As soon as accounting reports, DATEV export or document recognition are needed, Enterprise is the right choice. We clarify this in the check based on your processes, not on the price list.
What if the check shows we shouldn't switch?
Then the report says so, with reasons. You have invested €1,190 in a basis for a decision, not in a project. That happens, for example when a legacy system with a lot of special logic still has three years of support.
